Our Commitment to Education

Calvary invites you to learn more about our educational opportunities for all ages. These programs offer inspiration, information and guidance in a rich variety of ways to persons of all ages. Speak with our Pastor or any of our teachers/leaders to learn more about classes of interest, and to find out how you can participate.

Sunday Morning Education Hour
9:30 A.M. - 10:20 A.M. every Sunday except Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and Easter.

The name Akaloo is inspired by the Greek word akolouthein ("to follow") Jesus said to his disciples, "Follow me." Akaloo is based on this simple, yet radical call to discipleship. We invite you to join Calvary members, preschool through adult, as we travel together on this journey of Discovering the Bible, Experiencing God, Becoming a Disciple, Celebrating Church and Embracing the World. ( Registration forms for those age 3 by September 1 through high school are available online.)

We also encourage you to check out Akaloo yourself by visiting the Akaloo web site www.akaloo.org. This exciting program brings faith experiences from Sunday into the home during the week, using online resources and caring conversations between family and friends.

Designed to promote faith-growing activities for parents and children in the home such as:

Bible’n’Life - Activities that bring the Bible to life for your family

Faith Sparkers -Ideas to grow your family's relationship with God

Talk Teasers - Dozens of intriguing ways to get your family talking

Memory Makers - Ideas you can use to create strong, positive family memories

Special Topics - TV, chores, drugs, sexuality

We urge you to visit their web site ReadyClickandGrow. This exciting program brings creative and effective ways to get your family talking about even the most challenging issues.

Wednesday Evening Educational Opportunities:

6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays during the school year except during Lent and Advent

FaithWeaver Friends combines weekly Bible points with crafts, games, prayers, caring conversations and service. This fun learning experience is designed for preschool through elementary students. Drop-ins are welcome! (Registration forms available online.)

Confirmation Ministry Confirmation classes are held for seventh and eighth graders so that they can develop a greater understanding of the Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, Communion, the Apostles’ Creed, and the Ten Commandments. In addition, mentoring relationships are established with trusted adults to further nurture the faith of our young people.

Two classes for adults are offered as well.

Wednesday Night Bible Study looks at a particular book of the Bible in depth.

In Life Skills for Christian Families, participants study topics and relate them to the Bible and their everyday life.

Special Events :

Throughout the year, a number of special educational opportunities are held including Family Fun Nites, the annual Book Fair, Vacation Bible School, etc.
