The Prime Timers are going on a road trip July 11th 2009!

There will be a motor coach excursion with Day Tripper Tours to the fabulous $733 million dollar Getty Center situated on 110 acres in the Santa Monica Mountains overlooking Brentwood.  This Los Angeles museum is more than twice the size of the Getty Malibu Villa and houses changing exhibitions as well as an expanding permanent collections of pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculptures, decorative arts, and 19th and 20th-century American and European photographs.  Gardens and terraces throughout provide sweeping views of Los Angeles, the mountains and the ocean.  You're on your own for lunch at the Center.  Come and enjoy the new exhibitions along with the timeless masterpieces at this cultural treasure!

There will be a Special Exhibition of "Temptation & Salvation: The Psalms of King David"

The 150 Psalms of the Bible played a central role in Christian religious life throughout the Middle Ages, their elusive poetry attracting both written interpretation and painted decoration.  This exhibition celebrates the importance of the Psalms in medieval devotion and reveals the splendor and variety of the illumination developed to accompany them.

If you would like to dine at the Getty’s Fine Dining Restaurant, advance reservations are recommended.  Call (310) 440-7300  Scheduled arrival time at the Getty is approx. 11:30 -12:00 noon
If you would like to bring a sack lunch to eat at the Getty Center, there is a picnic area located at the Lower Tram Station
Please wear comfortable shoes, as moderate walking is involved at your own pace.
