Get
to know ... Sandy DelNegro, Our Director of Youth and Family
The search is over for a new Director of Youth and Family. Sandy DelNegro has answered the call to continue building an energetic and faithful
program for Calvary’s children of all ages based on our concept of an extended family.
Originally from Massachusetts, she is still a Red Sox fan! Sandy grew up playing in the snow
in the winter, and occasionally walking to school in the snow, but her summers were spent on the beaches of Cape Cod.
She attended college in Massachusetts before begining a career in the insurance business with Travelers
Insurance in Hartford, CT. She left Travelers in 1997 to be a full time mom. While "staying at home" she
managed being President of two PTA’s and VP of a third, oversaw a before and after school program, taught
fitness classes at the YMCA, planned golf tournaments for charity, and in her spare time began her
Masters in marriage and family therapy.
She has a teenage daughter Alison. The Madison A. DelNegro Bible Fund
at Calvary is named after her second daughter who died of heart disease in 1997.
Sandy left Massachusetts and moved to Phoenix in 2003. She spent a little over a year in Buffalo,
NY and finally to San Diego in 2005.
Upon moving to San Diego, she found her spiritual home at Calvary. Soon after arriving,
Sandy shared that she had taught confirmation classes at her previous congregation and was
quickly recruited to the Christian Education team where she began creating our mentoring program.
As our Director of Youth and Family program, she combines her commitment of faith, children
and families and her proven ability to do 25 things at one time. Sandy attended the Center for
Youth Ministries/The Youth & Family Institutes Cert School where she received her certification
as a Youth & Family Minister in May 2008 and has worked with Dr. Dick Hardel from the Youth
and Family Institute and Calvary’s Vision Team to create a ministry that supports our
congregation as we Proclaim, Nurture and Pass on Faith.
