Our Commitment to Youth and Family
At Calvary, the youth are an integral
part of our congregation and the future of
our church. We offer many enriching programs
from birth to age 18.
Protection of Minors Training
It is the policy of Calvary Lutheran Church to
provide an environment that is free of child abuse,
exploitation or neglect, and that safeguards the
health and well-being of all its children. To
facilitate this policy, Calvary has established an
extensive program entitled
Maltreatment of Minors Prevention Program.
The goals of this program are as follows:
- To provide a safe environment for our
children, volunteers and staff.
- To interview and welcome all new and current
volunteers at Calvary.
- To provide training for all current and new
volunteers and staff.
A comprehensive manual has been created that
outlines the basic program tenets and procedures.
Additionally, a 4-hour workshop has been organized
to give further training on the topic. This
informative program is taught by qualified
professionals and offered annually.
To find out more about the program, please
contact the Calvary office at 858-755-2855. A copy
of the manual may also be obtained from the church
office.
Middle School and High School Youth Group
Join other Christian youth for fun activities
and rewarding learning experiences.
Calvary Middle School & High School Youth Group is for you if
you are a youth, you want to spend fun
and connected times with other youth,
you like being around other Christians,
and you value the Christian perspective
and what it adds to your growing up.
Both Youth Groups
participate in activities outside the church
either separately or sometimes together. Examples of outside activities
include UCSD Day, indoor rock climbing,
and Christmas caroling. Activities
will include games and ice-breakers,
team-building and interesting
discussions. Examples of discussion topics
include:
- Status and stereotypes: Becoming aware
of how we treat others
- Obstacles to communication with God
and with each other
- Called to share the good news
- God’s time vs. our time: Recognizing
a larger timescale
Snacks are served, and you are welcome to bring
your friends.
Director of Youth and Family
All Youth activities are planned and
coordinated by either the Director of Youth
and Family or one of our staff who’s dedicated to youth activities.
We have a dedicated and hard-working group
of volunteers led by our current chair of
Youth & Family Ministries.
Come and be a part of one of these
dynamic youth groups! For more information, call the
church office at 858-755-2855 or email clcyouth@roadrunner.com.
