Appendix C Sanctuary Stewards
Purpose
Sanctuary Stewards are an essential to providing for an optimal
worship experience by ensuring that the pew racks are fully
stocked and in order for all scheduled worship
services.
Responsibility
On a weekly basis, ensure that the following areas are returned
to a fully stocked and orderly state prior to the next service.
Choir Loft -
Maintain one green and one blue hymnal for every seat. The choir
utilizes a worship booklet that is an insert to the choir book.
No envelopes, prayer request forms, etc. are currently
maintained in the choir loft.
Occasionally the choir members will
leave their books on the seats, which is fine. However if there
are loose pieces of music or books, please collect them and put
them in the choir room.
Main Sanctuary Pews -
In order of size so each is visible, restock pews with
envelopes, "scribble" paper for the kids and prayer request
forms. Take care not to overload the paper products - they
should be easy to remove without disturbing the whole packet.
Check that a sharpened pencil is in place. The supplies are in
the Narthex cabinet in a basket to take with you into the
sanctuary. Let the Sanctuary Steward Coordinator know when
supplies need replenishing before you run out. Straighten the
hymnals as need be maintaining a minimum of two green and two
blue hymnals. For those pews that form a shorter ending, such as
by the sound board and in the south side alcove, only one set of
hymnals is needed.
Mezzanine -
Maintain one green and one blue hymnal for every other seat in
the mezzanine. Straighten and replenish the wall rack/basket
with envelopes, pencils, prayer requests
All Sections -
Recycle any severely damaged hymnals or worship booklets or
those that are looking worn, stained or torn. If replacements
cannot be found in the Narthex cabinet, notify the Sanctuary
Steward Coordinator. See that the Attendance cover has a pad and
pen and is placed at the inside aisle end of each pew.
Remove any trash old bulletins;
scribble pads, etc., including any that may have been inserted
in hymnals, liturgy booklets or on the surrounding floor or
seat. It is recommended that you have a paper bag or trash can
with you.
This activity provides an excellent
perspective for spotting any maintenance (scratched wood, fabric
stains, finger printed windows, etc.) or janitorial issues.
Please bring these and any building maintenance items to the
attention of the Coordinator.
These activities can be done at your
convenience. However, it has been found that the best days are
Thursday thru Saturday due to less activity during the latter
part of the week and therefore we are better assured the pews
will remain ready for Sunday worship services.
