ELCA - Mission

To worship God in proclamation of the Word and administration of the sacraments and through lives of prayer, praise, thanksgiving, witness, and service.

Focus of Activities

All of our activities are in support of the pillars of proclamation, fellowship, service and teaching that define our community of faith and to the finances, facilities and staff needed to support all our ministries.

Calvary’s Vision affirmed 2008

Living in response to God's Love, we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and equip all God's children to nurture and pass on faith.

Calvary Lutheran Church is a welcoming family of Christians who nurture discipleship by serving our community and celebrating God’s Word through the creative arts.

Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ through worship and witness

  • Our vision is an affirmation and testimonial of our beliefs as Lutheran Church Christians and our acceptance of the desire to be faithful to God’s holy word.

  • Led by the Holy Spirit, we will use God’s Word and the Sacraments to assist people to understand and to become all that God intends them to be.

  • As disciples of the Lord, we will in unity and love always reach out in service and witness to our community and in realization and celebration of its diversity, invite all individuals to share in our faith and parish life.  We will join other Christians in bringing the Gospel to the whole world.

  • Fundamental in our direction will be the never ending pursuit of excellence in all that we do, especially in providing the broadest Christian based education possible to all ages with emphasis on our youth.  We also affirm our realization and deep belief in the value of music in our celebration.

  • We commit to, irrespective of size, ensure that the intimacy and closeness that we share as a family of believers will guide us even as we embrace all who grace our worship.

  • As a close family, united in Christ, we will always challenge ourselves to be forward looking, insuring that our resources (staff, facilities, and financial), are adequate to meet our future needs.

Using our gifts to equip all God's children to nurture faith formation in our community.

  • Develop and utilize a pro-active community presence within a 30 mile radius.

  • Enhance our appeal and reach out to all members of our community including new families with and without children, empty nest families and seniors.

  • Enhance our campus to better serve the needs of our community.

  • Increase the absolute amount of our Benevolence locally, nationally and globally.

Passing on faith to all generations by word and deed.

  • Create an environment where our membership is actively living their faith everday in everyway.

  • Actively reaching out to our community and the word with practical applications of living in God's grace.

Calvary’s Five Year Strategy - 2008

By January 2014 we will have achieved the following desired outcomes:

  • We have become a permission-giving congregation guided by leaders who embrace faith, vision, mentoring and realism and we have procedures in place that ensure successful transitioning of Ministry Leaders, Church Officers and Council Members.

  • We have successfully involved every member in shepherding and service.

  • All our families and congregational ministries are actively engaged in the "4 Keys" of:

    1. Caring Conversations
    2. Daily Devotions
    3. Christian Services
    4. Observing Rituals and Traditions

  • Every Ministry intentionally engages and equips individuals and families of all generations.
